The “City of Kings” is home to the Cresta Churchill Hotel (S20 12 719 E 028 84 920). The charming Tudor architecture recalls days gone by and it is easy to see why this is considered to be one of the finest hotels in Bulawayo. There are a variety of room options, but all are air-conditioned, en suite, and equipped with tea/coffee-making facilities, telephone, TV, video channel, radio and 24-hour room service. You even get a complimentary morning newspaper. Fine dining is the name of the game at the Inglenook Restaurant and they also have a superb wine list. 

Once in Buluwayo it is not far from South Africa. The Northern Cape is South Africa's largest but least densely populated province. A few main routes run through this province. The most well-known is the N1 which runs from Cape Town to Johannesburg and further north. Colesberg is the most northern town in the province along this route and just two days' driver from the Churchill Hotel and Buluwayo. The Merino Inn Motel is just outside Colesberg on the N1. This is a beautiful three-star hotel and the perfect stopover between Zimbabwe and the Western or Eastern Cape. If you prefer self-catering (self-contained) accommodation Gables Inn Colesberg would be the most ideal. Further south is the town of Hanover. Hanover in South Africa is a very small town compared to its German sister city. The Hanover Inn offers affordable but very basic accommodation in Hanover, South Africa. The better option might be the hotel Hanover Lodge - here you can enjoy the feeling of the remote town. The N10 runs from Three Sisters to Kimberley through towns such as Britstown and Victoria West. In Britstown the Britstown Transkaroo Lodge is a very pleasant hotel. This hotel is in the main street in Britstown and the best accommodation by far in Britstown. If you want to stay on a Karoo farm Britstown Kambro Lodge self-catering (self-contained) accommodation 20 km north of Britstown in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa will be the place for you.

The Orange Free State is the central province in South Africa with its capital Bloemfontein. Bloemfontein is a relatively large city and about the same size as Buluwayo with a wide selection of hotels. Sangiro Lodge Bloemfontein is near Shell Ultra City in Bloemfontein. This hotel is at the exit from N1 to Bloemfontein. Not everybody who visits Bloemfontein want to stay in a city hotel. The Bains Game Lodge Bloemfontein offers an alternative. Bains Game Lodge is a hotel next to the N1 at the Nelson Mandela exit at Bloemfontein where you can see some large game. The Free State is well known for its mines. Not everybody is aware of the diamond mines near Koffiefontein. Hakuna Matata Guesthouse is our preferred hotel in Koffiefontein in the Freestate province of South Africa.

The Eastern Cape is to the south east of the Free State and three days from Buluwayo in Zimbabwe. The former independent country Transkei is now part of this province. Umtata used to be the capital of the Transkei but after 1994 the city was renamed Mthatha. Our Umtata Savoy Hotel is the best hotel in Mthatha (formerly Umtata). You will most likely want to visit the famous Wild coast while you are in the region. Umngazi River Lodge is a luxury hotel near Port St Johns. If you want to stay in Port St Johns, the four star N'taba River Lodge will be your destination. A drive along the Wild coast is very rewarding. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. Just after Coffee Bay is the beautiful landmark Hole-In-The-Wall. The Hole-in-the-Wall Hotel is a basic hotel and self-catering (self-contained) accommodation at Hole-in-the-Wall along the Wild coast. Further to the south west is Mazeppa Bay Hotel. Your resort hotel on the Wild coast of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Near Underberg in the Drakensberg Mountains is Amazian Mountain River Lodge. Every night turns out to be a honeymoon.

Betesda is situated on a beautiful desert farm about 40 km from Sesriem the entrance gate to the Sossusvlei dunes. 

The Southern Region of Namibia includes towns such as Mariental, Keetmanshoop, Grunau and Noordoewer. Accommodation in this area includes Mariental River Chalets, Quiver Tree Lodge, Grunau Country House and the Orange River Lodge.

The Kalahari Molopo Lodge is very near the Kgalagdi Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa.

Nossob Rest Camp is in the area where you are most likely to see lions in the Kgalagdi Transfrontier Park.

Springbok in the Northern Cape of South Africa and unofficial capital of Namaqualand have a few very good accommodation establishments such as Kleinplasie self-catering (self-contained) accommodation, Springbok Hotel, Masonic Hotel and Kokerboom motel.

The Kokerboom Motel is just outside Springbok on the N& between Namibia and Cape Town. Kokerboom Hotel is best known as overnight accommodation.

Kamieskroon Hotel in Kamieskroon in Namaqualand is a small country hotel but perfect for those interested in the Namaqualand flowers.

Van Zijl Guesthouse in the Namaqualand town of nieuwoudville is an excellent destination from where you can explore Namaqualand during the flower season.

Colesberg in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa is perfectly situated just south of the Orange river on the N1 between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg. In Colesberg you can stay in either the Merino Inn or in The Gables inn self-catering accommodation.

Graskop is on the escarpment in Mpumalanga. From Graskop you can visit all the nearby attractions such as Pelgrimsrest. Blyderiver Canyon and Mac Waterfalls.

Underberg and Himville is two small towns but with the most spectacular views over the Drakensberg Mountains.
